Done it again! The best so far!

Mageborn The God Stone Book ebook

Mageborn The God Stone Book ebook

I am amazed yet again with Michael's aptitude in style of writing and his composition. His book has yet again unlocked many wild imaginations in my head while I envisioned what I read in this book.

I'll admit that the humor was a little bit short in the first half and the intensity wasn't as much as I expected.

I enjoyed the hysterical humor in the bantering from the third book "Mageborn: Archmage Unbound." Especially between Rose, Mordecai, and Marcus in one of the churches while Marc was "collecting" information from one person. I also enjoyed the humor between Marcus and Mordecai when Mordecai posed as Marc's sister trying to fool him. This book was still pretty hilarious at multiple points, but I was hoping to see more and more throughout the book. I understand that the confusion and battle might have inhibited the possibility of throwing in more and more humor. So I'll give it that.

The intensity was still very bold in this book, but I was hoping for more of that, but oh well...

Nevertheless, I still love this book! I will still re-read it again and again and again while I wait for the fifth book. :-)

All the best!

  1. Manning has done it once more, and created yet another story that is impossible to put away. The ending however is heartbreaking and I almost wish that I had waited till book 5 was out.

This book was edited alot better than the previous books, and thus easier to read.

  2. Michael G. Manning has hit another home run in his latest book for the Mageborn series. With the release of Mageborn: The God-Stone War the series takes a turn towards the darker and grittier side as Mord continues to struggle with defending his home and family from odds that are stacked against him. This book is set 7 years after the last book in the series, and you can see some very significant character growth in how all of the characters are more mature. This puts a very realistic spin to the relationships all of the characters enjoy. Additionally, the author's use of foreshadowing is amazingly well done, driving home some of the points you see throughout the book. In closing, I'll simply state that this book continuously leaves you wondering how all the loose ends will tie themselves off in book 5. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

  3. A stellar addition to one of the great fantasy trilogy's out there. This guy will be writing successfully for a long time. He captures human emotion, and draws you into the characters in a way I have never experienced quite so intensely.

  5. The book was according to a character in a book i forgot "unputdownable". I really tried but my fingers started itching and my imagination bucking around like a wild horse. The development of the characters was done naturally and believably. The story had just the right balance between providing information and suspense. I love that Mr Manning's skill in crafting stories has been increasing with each book, but this book in particular was a huge leap from the previous books and the were all great. I can't review the book well enough without introducing spoilers but I can say that you will feel fear, sadness, excitement and mirth. If you haven't read the series please do and start from the beginning. have fun

  7. Manning has managed to ensnare our imaginations with Mordecai's tale, any lover of fantasy would be hard pressed to find another series that takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster such as this. Bravo Mr. Manning, Bravo.

  8. Michael Manning has done it again! Mageborn: The God-Stone War is the best book in the series so far!

It takes place seven years after the last book, and the characters have grown and matured accordingly. Skipping seven years ahead, I don't find myself feeling as if I'd like to know more about what happened in those seven years, like I have in other series that have skipped ahead in time. Mr. Manning covers the past seven years in enough detail to satisfy my curiosity without interfering with the current storyline, or leaving me feeling as if you wish he would "get on with it."

The book is not only full of action, but there is also plenty of backstory and character development of both new and returning characters. Mort faces a series of challenges, both magical and personal. These challenges force him to make some rash decisions as well as rely on precautions already put in place. Not everything goes to entirely to plan, however.

Mr. Manning makes excellent use of foreshadowing and plot twists throughout the story. It is one you will not want to put down until you have read the entire book, and then you will want to read it all over again to make sure you didn't miss anything.

The entirety of the series is an absolute terrific story -- one worth endless re-reads.

At the time of writing this review, the price for the Kindle book is $4.95 USD, although I would have gladly paid even five times that, so much have I enjoyed not just this book, but this series.

I am afraid that Mr. Manning has outdone himself this time. While book 5 will undoubtedly be worth the wait, his clamoring fans will be quite impatient to read more about Mort and his friends. I count myself amongst the impatient.
